LOS ANGELES โ The UCLA track and field team will host two meets this weekend at Drake Stadium. The Bruins will once again host the two-day Legends of Track & Field Invitational that will begin on Friday, March 31. The Bob Larsen Distance Carnival also returns and will be held Friday evening. The Legends meet will conclude on Saturday, April 1.
Participating Teams (Legends of Track & Field Invitational): Cal State Northridge, Cerritos College, Colorado State University, Cornell, Utah State, University of Minnesota, UC Riverside, University of Nevada (w), Riverside City College, Washington State University, and UCLA.

UCLA HONOREES: Dawn Dumble-Godbehere and Andre Phillips will be recognized at the meet this weekend.
Dawn Dumble-Godbehere was a four-time NCAA Champion in the shot put and discus. She held Pac-10 records in both events and claimed seven individual Pac-10 crowns. She captured four Pac-10 Championships in the discus (1991-93, '95) and three in the shot put (1991-93). She is one of nine women in Pac-10 history to have won three straight individual conference titles in any single event and joins Janeene Vickers as the only woman to have won three straight in two different events. Dumble captured NCAA championships in 1993 and 1995.
Andre Phillips ranks second all-time at UCLA in the 400m hurdles with a time of 48.10. Phillips attended UCLA and won the 1981 NCAA championships in the 400 meter hurdles and finished fifth at the 1983 World Championships. In the 1988 Olympic finals Phillips clocked a personal best 47.19 to win Olympic gold. Phillips was nine times ranked top ten in the world by Track & Field News, and ranked #1 globally in 1985, 1986 and 1988.ย Phillips was inducted into the USATFย Hall of Fame in 2009.ย
COACH BOB LARSEN:ย Legendary coach Bob Larsen was named NCAA track & field or cross country Coach of the Year four different times at UCLA before coaching Mebrahtom Keflezighi to the 2004 Olympic silver medal in the marathon. Larsen was selected in the coaches category.
During the 15 seasons Larsen served as coach of the UCLA Bruins men's track & field and cross country teams, he led 12 individuals to a total of 20 NCAA titles and directed ย UCLA to back-to-back NCAA Outdoor track & field team championships in 1987 and 1988.
LAST TIME OUT: UCLA enters the meet after a successful weekend in Tempe, Ariz., at the Pac-12 vs. Big Ten Challenge. UCLA finished third in both the men and women's meet as the men tallied 107 points while the women scored 88.ย
The Bruins were led by Rai Benjamin on Saturday, and he was later recognized for his efforts by being named the Pac-12 Male Track Athlete of the Week. The sophomore set his first of two meet records as he blitzed the Joe Selleh oval in a personal-best 400m time of 46.17. The time was the fastest run in the nation thus far this outdoor season.ย
Benjamin was not done through as he came back in short order to win the 400m hurdles in a time of 50.40. The 50.40 was another meet record, and the second-fastest run this outdoor season. He also ran the second leg of the 4x100m relay that clocked a 39.91.ย
NEXT TIME OUT: The Bruins will remain at Drake Stadium on Saturday, April 8 to host the annual Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational. The UCLA multis will head to the Sam Adams Combined Events at Westmont College, beginning on Friday, April 7.ย
