
UCLA's Wheeler Named to U.S. Under 23 Team

Rising junior Carlisle Wheeler has earned a spot on the USRowing Under 23 National Team that is scheduled to compete July 19-23 at the 2017 World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
Wheeler, who has rowed in the Bruins' top two varsity eight crews during her freshman and sophomore seasons, will compete with the Women's Four crew for USRowing, alongside Alison Rusher (Stanford University), Alexandra Siverling (University of Wisconsin) and Tessa Yurko (University of Michigan).
As a sophomore at UCLA in 2016-17, Wheeler exclusively rowed in the Bruins' varsity eight crew. She rowed two seat in the V8+ at the UC Challenge (March 4), against Stanford and San Diego State (March 11) and at the two-day San Diego Crew Classic (April 1-2). Wheeler rowed four seat in the Bruins' final four spring competitions – at Oregon State (April 8), at the two-day Clemson Invitational (April 22-23), versus USC (April 30) and at the Pac-12 Championships (May 14).
The upcoming five-day Under 23 Championships in Bulgaria will feature U.S. crews in 21 events. The United States' roster includes athletes from 23 states and has 30 universities represented.
