SATURDAY’S VICTORY
- UCLA defeated Kentucky, ranked as the nation’s No. 1 team, for the second consecutive season – one year to the day (Dec. 3, 2015), the Bruins downed No. 1 Kentucky, 87-77, in Pauley Pavilion.
- UCLA won in its first-ever game at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky., on Saturday. Previously, UCLA had played the Wildcats in Lexington twice (prior to the construction of Rupp Arena). The Bruins lost games at Kentucky on Dec. 26, 1951 and on Feb. 17, 1961.
- The Bruins registered their 12th all-time victory over the AP poll’s No. 1-ranked team, the second-highest win total of any college program (since 1949).
- UCLA snapped Kentucky’s 42-game win streak in Rupp Arena. The Wildcats had not lost at home since Feb. 27, 2014 (in overtime against Arkansas, 71-67).
- UCLA’s 97 points were the most surrendered by Kentucky under eighth-year head coach John Calipari in 242 total games (his first season at UK was 2009-10).
- Kentucky’s record at Rupp Arena under Coach Calipari fell to 124-5 (since the start of the 2009-10 season).
- UCLA’s 97 points marked its highest total in a game against the country’s No. 1-ranked team since March 22, 1968, when No. 2 UCLA defeated No. 1 Houston, 101-69, in the NCAA Tournament national semifinals (at the Los Angeles Sports Arena).
- UCLA collected its first win over a top-10 ranked team in a road game since Jan. 24, 2013 (UCLA won at No. 6 Arizona, 84-73, in a Pac-12 contest).
- UCLA secured its first victory over a top-10 ranked non-conference team away from Pauley Pavilion since Nov. 20, 2007 (UCLA defeated Michigan State, 68-63, to win the 2007 O’Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic in Kansas City, Mo.).

- Anticipating a bump in the AP and USA Today Coaches polls on Monday, the Bruins entered last week ranked No. 11 in the AP poll and No. 9 in the USA Today Coaches poll.
