David Wacker enters his fifth season with the UCLA Sports Medicine staff in 2025-26 and works directly with the prestigious Men’s Volleyball program while assisting with the Men’s Tennis program.

Entering his third season with the Men’s Volleyball program, David’s help saw the UCLA Men’s Volleyball program clinch their 21st National Championship in 2024 and reach the National Championship Match in 2025.
Prior to his time with the Men’s Volleyball program, David oversaw care for Women’s Rowing (2021-2022), Men’s Tennis (2021-2023), and Men’s Water Polo (2023-2024).

Prior to his time in Westwood, David previously worked as an Athletic Trainer at Golden State Orthopedic and Spine (2019-2021) in Walnut Creek, CA, where he administered durable medical equipment, home exercise programs, assisted with the day-to-day needs of the clinic, and worked alongside top orthopedic physicians in the East Bay area.
David also served as an Athletic Training Fellow at UC Davis from 2017 to 2019. David oversaw care for the Women’s Swim and Dive and Baseball programs in the 2018-2019 season and assisted with the Football program in the 2017-2018 season. The Fellowship at UC Davis offered David endless opportunities for learning and was able to build strong relationships with his mentors, administrators, and student-athletes.

Before moving to the West Coast, the New Jersey native obtained his Masters of Science in Athletic Training from California University of Pennsylvania while working with the University’s Football program as the Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer. The Vulcans went 11-1, seeing their prolific season come to an end in the Super Region One Championship game.

David’s undergraduate work was completed at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT in 2016, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. He gained insightful and invaluable experience at QU while working with the Women’s Basketball, Women’s Rugby, Men’s Ice Hockey, and Women’s Field Hockey programs. David also worked with Yale Men’s Basketball program and at East Haven High School while being a Student Athletic Trainer. In addition to these opportunities, David received external internships to work pre-season Football with University of Tennessee (2014) and University of Maryland (2015). David sought out a professional internship with the Philadelphia Flyers and assisted with their Player Development Camps in 2014 and 2015.  All of these experiences helped shape David into the professional he is today.

A member of NATA (National Athletic Trainers Association) since 2015, David has been a NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer since April 2016. David also attained additional certifications throughout his career that include Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES), Functional Movement Screening (FMS), and Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA).

David resides in Studio City, CA with his partner Kaylee and their cat Spicoli and dog Chaney.
