
Royal Captures Top-10 Finish at Stanford Intercollegiate

STANFORD, Calif. – Senior Meghan Royal finished in seventh as an individual at the Stanford Intercollegiate on Sunday with a combined scoring total of -6 (70-65-72) over the three rounds.
The Bruins finished sixth as a team (-3; 285-279-285), beating six of the 10 ranked opponents coming into the tournament. Host team No. 1 Stanford (-35; 271-272-274) clinched the event title with a 21-stroke margin on runner-up No. 3 Oregon. The Cardinal's Megha Ganne (-10) secured individual medalist honors.
Royal's 54-hole total of 207 matched the lowest score in her career (last accomplished at the 2023 Windy City Collegiate Classic). The performance marked the third top-10 result of her career and her first since the 2023-24 season.
Royal's -6, 65 in round two on Saturday set a new career low and is tied for the sixth-lowest 18-hole score in UCLA program history.
Sophomore Maye Huang (-2; 70-71-70) carded four birdies in the final round to shoot a steady 1-under for the day. Her 14 total birdies in the 54-hole event were tied most of any player in the field. Huang finished T-15th on the individual leaderboard, marking the fourth top-20 result in her career and the second in UCLA's last two events.

STANFORD, Calif. – The UCLA women's golf team continued its strong performance today in the second round of the Stanford Intercollegiate on Saturday. The Bruins currently sit in a tie for fourth place (-4; 285-279) with No. 17 Arizona State and Pepperdine.
No. 1 Stanford (-25; 271-272) compounded on their lead from the first round, shooting -12 as a team in round two. The Cardinal have an 11-stroke lead on No. 3 Oregon.
Senior Meghan Royal (-7; 70-65) shot the lowest round in the field on day two with a bogey-free, -6, 65. Royal's combined -7 scoring total through 36 holes boosted her 13 spots in second place on the individual leaderboard.
Royal, the only player in the field to shoot bogey-free on Saturday, totaled six birdies and 12 pars. Her 18-hole score total of 65 set a new career low, besting her previous mark of 66 set in round one at the 2023 Windy City Collegiate Classic.
Sophomore transfer Jenny Lee (+4; 76-70) was the other Bruin to card an under-par round today. Lee was the first Bruin to have an eagle on the weekend, coming on her 16th hole of the day, the par-5 seventh.

UCLA Currently Ahead of Eight Ranked Teams at the Stanford Intercollegiate

STANFORD, Calif. – The UCLA women's golf team finished at +1, 285 in the first round of the Stanford Intercollegiate at Stanford Golf Club on Friday afternoon. They currently sit in fourth place in the 19-team field, 10 of which are top 25 ranked opponents.
Stanford, the No. 1-ranked team in the nation and tournament host, leads the field by six strokes at -13. Only two other teams, No. 3 Oregon and Arizona, were able to finish the first round under par.
Sophomore Maye Huang (-1; 70) shot a steady one under par round with a bogey-free, -2 front nine. Huang carded three birdies and one bogey. She double bogeyed the 10th hole, which played the most difficult for the field with a scoring average of 0.6 strokes over par.
Senior Meghan Royal (-1; 70) shot -3 over her final eight holes to finish as the only other Bruin to card an under-par round. Royal's -2, 34 on the back nine tied the scoring lead for all individuals in that stretch.
Huang and Royal are two of only 22 individuals in the 100-player field to card an under-par round on Friday. They currently sit at T-15th on the individual leaderboard.
After starting with a double bogey on the first hole, freshman Kacey Ly (+1; 72) battled back to finish -2 over her final 11 holes. Ly recorded five birdies in her first round, the most of any Bruin.
Sophomore Angela Liu (+2; 73) had a bogey-free, -1 front nine. Liu was one of the three UCLA players to start the day strong with a birdie on the par-5 first hole. Liu had 15 pars in her opening round to card a +2, 73 on the day.
